Some Things Are Worth Fighting For

David and Eliab had a sibling rivalry. Whenever David showed signs of maturity or responsibility, Eliab would treat him like a child. But, it was David’s willingness to fight for a cause that propelled him to the throne. If you can embrace the cause, it all goes up from there. There is something worth fighting for!

From the day of Pentecost forward, the family would never again be held hostage to satan’s schemes and never again would temptation equal defeat or a momentary weakness equal damnation. From that day forward, God’s ultimate plan of the ages would be available to everyone. God intended that every person in the world would experience Pentecost. The Why - Pastor Darrell Propst

Peter was called Simon in his most intimate moments by Jesus. Something happened in his life that took him from Simon, son of a dove, to Simon, the rock. Peter didn’t ask to walk on water; he asked to come to Jesus. Jesus knew that when things got tough, Peter would lose hope and look away. This presents the opportunity for a savior. Peter found his “Why.”

A certain man left Jerusalem and was headed to Jericho when he was overtaken by thieves. Laying wounded and stripped he was passed by a priest and a Levite who should have had compassion on him, but left him in the same condition with which they found him. The Good Samaritan has compassion on him, bound his wounds and put him on his beast and took him to a place of healing. The hurting need a Good Samaritan. The hurting need a church willing to stop and pick them up on their way to a place of healing.

The high priest Caiaphas was incredibly shaken by the words that God spoke to him. To Caiaphas, God was a strange man claiming He was The I Am, The Anointed One. Then, Caiaphas ripped his garment. Once it was ripped, the law said to not sew it up – you’re done with it – there’s no going back. But, he was so overcome with what God said, that he would forever be changed. Caiaphas got a lot of things wrong, but when he was in the presence of The Great I Am, he shredded what had identified him up to that point.
