After the death of Moses, Joshua received the promise “Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.” Joshua subsequently spent his life claiming territory for the kingdom of God. The last few verses of the book of Joshua reveal at the end of his life Joshua was buried, not in the middle of the land he claimed, but in its borders. This tells us that from the day Joshua received the promise until the day he was buried, he claimed land. In the kingdom of God, Columbus is a border town. We are involved in taking territory constantly. The price of this privilege is we must remain vigilant. People in war zones, do not live in comfort. Borders are always places of great contention. It is important to understand where we are so we understand the attacks are not because of what we have done wrong but are because of who we are in the kingdom of God.
